AI Business Center Foundation
Frequently asked questions about the AI Business Center Foundation
The AI Business Center Foundation (AIBC) is a think tank and advisory partner that helps the boards of construction, industrial and technical-services companies adopt artificial intelligence so that it delivers measurable results and builds competitive advantage. Below we answer the questions boards ask us most often.
Which companies does the AI Business Center Foundation work for?
For companies in construction, industry and technical services, including general contractors, building-services contractors, prefabrication manufacturers, manufacturing plants, logistics and facility-management operators, design offices and technology providers to these sectors. We also work with investors and local authorities.
What is semantic transformation?
It means organising a company's names, processes and data so that people, language models and board reports understand them the same way. We carry it out across the 4 levels (competence, naming, linking and value measurement), and the entry point is the 30-day readiness assessment.
How does the Foundation differ from an implementation firm?
The Foundation is vendor-neutral: we do not sell licences or implementations. We act on the board’s side — we help choose the contractor, prepare requirements and criteria, run the procurement procedure or tender, and assess bids and contractor quality. The board makes the decision. We prepare the method, the assessment, process descriptions, definitions of measures and a brief for the IT department. The technical implementation is carried out by the company's IT department or by a partner the company chooses.
What does the first contact with the Foundation look like?
A short conversation with the member of the Foundation's Management Board closest to the company's problem. We agree whether the starting point is the readiness assessment, a review of regulatory compliance, a competence programme or funding. The conversation involves no commitment.
Does the AI Act already apply to construction and industrial companies?
In part, yes. Since 2 February 2025 Art. 4 on the AI literacy of staff has applied, and since 2 August 2026 the AI Act applies in general, including the transparency obligations of Art. 50. The obligations for high-risk systems have dates in 2027 and 2028.
What is the AIBC attestation, and what is it not?
The Foundation runs the AIBC Certification Path, its own standard: preparing an organisation for conformity assessment and issuing the AIBC attestation, with a stated scope and date. It is not a conformity assessment carried out by a notified body, nor a decision of a supervisory authority.
Does the Foundation help secure funding?
Yes. We match technology and competence projects to public programmes, describe the indicators, the schedule and the task-based budget, and prepare the substantive part of the application. The decision on funding is taken by the institution running the call.
What is a Foundation Partner?
A Foundation Partner is a company that works with the Foundation on an ongoing basis. It has access to the team, the quarterly AI value report for the board, the AIBC Certification Path and the Semantio tool on preferential terms, with early access to its new features.
What does working with the Foundation cost?
The scope and the basis of charging depend on the number of departments, sites and processes covered. We agree them after a conversation, and most often after the readiness assessment, in a separate document.
Does the Foundation help set up a private AI instance?
We help decide whether one is needed and for which processes: we classify the data, set the criteria for choosing a route, prepare the requirements for the provider, a brief for the IT department and the framework for a pilot. We do not implement infrastructure and do not recommend providers in return for working with the Foundation; the implementation is carried out by the company's IT department or a partner it chooses.
What do language models write into specifications, and does the Foundation research this?
Designers and contracting authorities increasingly start a technical description from a draft by an AI assistant that suggests parameters, standards and manufacturers' products as the reference product. The Foundation researches this phenomenon and educates the contracting authority and designer, the manufacturer and the market: we measure, we organise, we correct errors, we provide a content map. We promise no one a place in a specification.
What does “from AI to BI” mean?
It describes a path, not a separate service: AI generates content, semantics organises names, processes and measures, and BI accounts for the effect in the board report. The Foundation builds the layer in between. We do not implement BI tools. We define what to measure and how. BI tools are implemented by the company's IT department or its partner.
Where is the company's data processed during our work together?
We agree the scope of data we have access to with the company and its security and data protection functions before work begins. The rules for working with data in AI applications are part of the standard we prepare together with the company.
